OK, we've dealt with the original 60s releases in our first album section, but now we need to feature recent CD anthologies, compilations, re-issues etc etc.
The advent of specialized re-issue labels has resulted in a flood of previously unreleased material being made available to Psych collectors. Most of the key 60s albums have been re-issued with several bonus tracks tacked onto the end. I'm not going to bother with them here because it would be unnecessary duplication. I'll add the details of bonus tracks onto the entries in Album Section 1 when I find the time. The releases that I'll be including here fall into several categories:
Firstly there's the collections of previously unreleased material, the biggest selling example of which is of course "Anthology" by The Beatles.
Secondly, there are original albums that are re-issued in "De-Luxe" versions, with humungous amounts of bonus tracks and extravagant packaging. Enough to make the new version an essential purchase, even if you own the original release. The triple CD version of The Kinks' "Village Green Preservation Society" is a fine example.
Thirdly...we have album length CDs containing material by Band's who were never granted the luxury of a long-player back in the day. Loads of examples here, such as Focal Point, The Attack, The Action and many more.
Fourth...the many discs full of old BBC sessions. Most major (and many minor) groups now have a BBC release to their name, despite Auntie's cost-cutting attempts to deny us hearing her treasures.
Fifth...errr...well, anything else that I think fits in here. Let's start digging!
The albums pages are currently under construction. Please bear with me and of course let me know of any mistakes, dead-links or albums that should be included. Many thanks!!
