HAPPENING
Robert Fripp decides that King Crimson has run its course and abruptly disbands the group. John Wetton joins Roxy Music as their latest touring bass player, while it emerges that violinist David Cross had left Crimson three months previously.
Peter Banks re-forms his group Flash with an entirely new line-up comprising himself on guitar, Preston Heyman (drums), John Giblin (bass), Freeman Magnusson (keyboards) and Sidney Jordan (vocals).
Keith Moon says that he is definitely quitting the UK to become a US resident, though he denies that it's for tax reasons.
Curved Air announce that they will be re-forming for a UK Tour with all of their original members, including Daryl Way who has disbanded his group Wolf.
Steve Harley's new Cockney Rebel line-up includes ex-Blossom Toes/ Stud/ Family guitarist Jim Cregan, bassist George Ford and South African keyboard player Duncan Mackay.
Meanwhile, two members of the old Cockney Rebel, keyboardist Milton Reame-James and bassist Paul Avron Jeffries, are announced as being included in the new edition of Be Bop Deluxe along with ex-Hackensack drummer Simon Fox.
Ariel Bender leaves Mott the Hoople and he's replaced, after much rumour and speculation, by none other than Mick Ronson.
Uriah Heep bassist Gary Thain is badly hurt during a show in Dallas on the band's US Tour. He suffers severe electric shock and burns.
Dave Cousins of The Strawbs collapses from exhaustion during a recording session.
