HAPPENING!
Ex-Mark
Four members Eddie Phillips (guitar), Kenny Pickett (vocals) and Jack Jones
(drums) recruit bassist Bob Garner and call themselves Creation. They
rapidly become Mod heroes with their pop/art image and wild stage act.
Roy
Wood and Mike Sheridan had quit Birmingham group The Nightriders early in
1966. The three remaining members, Greg Masters, Dave Pritchard and Roger
Spencer stick together and bring guitarist/vocalist Jeff Lynne on board.
They change their name to The Idle Race and eventually sign to Liberty
Records.
The Yardbirds sign a new contract with Columbia Records reputed to be worth £25,000.
A
group named Silence begins to gig in Leatherhead, Surrey. After a few
changes in personnel they will become John’s Children.
A
‘Supergroup’ consisting of Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page on guitars, John
Paul Jones on bass, Keith Moon on drums and Nicky Hopkins on piano cut the
track “Beck’s Bolero” which subsequently appears as the B-side to
Beck’s “Hi-Ho Silver Lining” single.
