- The Woodstock Arts
And Music Fair is held on Max Yasgurs farm. British
representatives include The Who, Ten Years After and Joe
Cocker, who are all received ecstatically, and The
Incredible String Band, who bomb badly.
- The Who and The Nice
triumph at The Isle Of Wight Festival, although even they
are overshadowed by the return of Bob Dylan following his
three year absence from the music scene. Also appearing:

- The 9th National
Jazz, Pop, Ballads and Blues Festival is held at Plumpton
Race Course in Sussex (8th-10th). There are five
afternoon and evening shows, headlined by Pink Floyd, The
Who, The Nice (who were accompanied by a 40 piece
orchestra), The Pentangle and The Bonzo Dog Band. Also on
the bill: Soft Machine (who suffered a power failure),
