HAPPENING
Eric Clapton, after his abortive 'comeback' in January 1973, finally returns to full time work for the first time since early 1971, when he begins recording a solo album for the RSO label.
Yes announce that after Rick Wakeman's solo success, all of the band members of the group will record solo albums following the conclusion of the band's current US tour.
Hawkwind add ex-High Tide/ Third Ear Band violinist/ keyboards man Simon House to their line-up.
Mutter Slater re-joins Stackridge, having left them the previous year.
Vocalist Mick Stubbs quits Home to go solo. The other members go off to America to back Al Stewart on tour, with the intention of afterwards carrying on together but with a different band name. As things work out, this doesn't happen.
Ex-Hawkwind guitarist Huw Lloyd-Langton and ex-Beggars Opera vocalist Pete Scott announce the formation of a new band, to be named Magill.
Ex-Family main men Roger Chapman and John "Charlie" Whitney announce that they are sticking together as a duo, with a backing group to be named Streetwalkers.
Jimmy McCulloch, formerly guitarist with One In a Million, Thunderclap Newman, Stone The Crows and Blue, joins Paul McCartney's Wings.
The movie version of The Who's "Tommy" begins shooting this month, with Ken Russell directing.
